We are excited to host the Library Book Group’s October meeting as we discuss Belle: The Slave Daughter and the Lord Chief Justice. The book is the true story of Dido Belle and her great-uncle, the Earl of Mansfield, who was the Lord Chief Justice who influenced eighteenth-century British laws toward the abolition of slavery.
We will watch the 2014 movie “Belle” and enjoy tea-time refreshments. The movie features Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Matthew Goode, Emily Watson, and Penelope Wilton, Tom Wilkinson and Miranda Richardson.
